Laying the groundwork for a research environment that promotes diversity

We are implementing or planning the following measures to create a research environment that promotes diversity.

  1. Fulltime coordinator to provide support and advise women researchers on available programs
  2. Support and research funding allocation for women researchers returning to work after a major life event such as childbirth
  3. Programs for taking time off to nurse a sick child or provide long-term nursing care for a family member
  4. Expansion of telework program for working from home and for returning to work after extended leave

Programs for taking time off to nurse a sick child or provide long-term nursing care for a family member

Plans are underway to invite a home nursing care specialist to give a lecture at RIKEN, and to hold a get-together session for RIKEN employees who are currently, or who may soon be, taking care of family members requiring nursing care. The hope is that the exchange of information and support in maintaining work-life balance will provide reassurance and encouragement. 【ReferenceSupport programs for gender equality(in Japanese)
